Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
Hello
On 12/12/1943: According to one of my sources (from Czech Republic ),that day two Kittyhawks (20.gw IAP)n° 1134 Lt Alexei Khlobystov or Cholbystov? and n° 1167 Lt Kalegayev were shot down by the rear gunner of a reconnaissance plane. None has retourned,so what reconnaissance unit is involved?( I did not find any claims that day by JG 5 ). Thank's in advance michel |

Re: Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
Hello,
Only 13.12.1943 Alexey Khlobystov (HSU) and Alexander Kolegaev - their P-40s were found (2009) near Zaozersk near each other in the area of enemy positions. Presumably shot down by anti-aircraft artillery during the assault. https://www.belpressa.ru/news/news/p...ego-deda16285/ http://airaces.narod.ru/all14/hlobyst.htm https://vmnews.ru/novosti/2013/10/22...38232008ef22c8 Best regards, Kirill |

Re: Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
As my comrade Sergey Sergeyev told me:
"wiki:POW staffelkapitan 9/JG 5 Hptm. Hans-Hermann Schmidt reported (_.01.1944) about two Soviet P40 rammed each other by pilotage mistake. A.Khlobystov got HSU for ramming. A.Kolegayev was young pilot." Last edited by kirche; 3rd April 2017 at 19:32. |

Re: Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
However, according to Vlastimil Ehrman and Valerij Roman, they were shot
down by a german reconnaissance plane. So,1.(F/124 or 1.(H)/32 claimed that day (13/12/43) "abschuss"? or maybe by JG5. That day a Jak-9D of 3./195.IAP was shot down by a rotte bf 109 in escort of one FW 189. If what is right (H.H.SCHMIDT),this would mean that witnesses (BF.109) were present ? But it's only speculation. michel |

Re: Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
From the interrogation report of Hptm. Schmidt: ".. .the aerial observation posts reported the flight of two aircraft of the type "Kittyhawk" along the front line. During this flight covering the plane made a bad maneuver and crashed into the of his master. Both aircraft crashed and burned along with the pilots. The resulting flight of rifle and machine-gun fire gave the infantry unit reason to believe that both aircraft were shot down by infantry weapons"

Re: Soviet Kittyhawks vs Reconnaissance plane ?
Hi Michel,
Log 1 Gw.SAD, clarification in the summary for 13.12.1943: "According to the testimony of a prisoner of war Val'ru (? inaudible), aircrafts Kittyhawk died as a result of their collisions" Initially, there was a strong fire with earth and was heard a strong explosion. Aviation of the enemy on the Soviet side (1 Gw. SAD) is not revealed. The report of 7 VA in December 1943 from 195 IAP air combat for 13.12.1943 not marked. There are air combat 14.12.1943 - 4 Yak-7 vs 2 Bf 109. To no avail. Best regards, Kirill |
