Re: info sought on Hpt Zemsky stuka pilot

Here is what we have about this fellow:

ZEMSKY, Johann.

1938 entered the Luftwaffe from the Austrian Army in the rank of Lt. and a few months later promo to Oblt.
1939 instructor at Stukaschule Insterburg.
1940 pilot in I./St.G. 76.
01.09.40 promo to Hptm. and appt Staka 6./St.G. 1.
01.02.41 Hptm., Staka 6./St.G. 1.

04.02.42 Hptm., awarded Ritterkreuz, Kdr., II./St.G. 1.
28.08.42 shot down to the west of Stalingrad and KIA after his parachute failed to open.
Buried at Obliskaya (Oblivskaya?).
03.09.42 posthumously awarded the Eichenlaub to the Ritterkreuz.
Credited with 601 combat missions.

Tom Kracker's database states:

Zemsky, Johann - Hptm. Born; 4/11/1909 Wien Osterreich - Stfkpt 6./StG-1, Kdr. II./StG-1(1/42) Ju 87R & D RK(2/4/42)-EL(9/3/42 Post.), EK 1 & 2, Dive Bomber Operational Clasp w/Pendant KIA 28 August, 1942 (on his 600th mission) after being hit by flak. He managed to bail out, but his chute did not open. His R/O also jumped and was rescued by German infantry, but was seriously injured. Zemsky's body was recovered and he was buried near the Obliskaya Orthodox Church.

We hope that this meets your needs.
