Grave of two Oberleutnants?

This is the unmarked grave of Oblt Horst von der Groeben and Oblt Gerhard Müller in Whitstable Cemetery, both were lost 13.08.1940. the VDK would like to move them to the German War Cemetery at Cannock Chase, but cannot justify the legal costs, how can this be resolved?
Joe.

What are the legal costs?

Perhaps there is a way to help!

Hi Andy,
The basic costs are £223.80 for each Faculty, but additional fees may be payable if there are any objections, or a hearing has to be arranged, the VDK have never been charged a fee for any exhumation in the past, anywhere.

Re: Grave of two Oberleutnants?

Hi there.

Just to get this clear - who is charging a fee here?

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Grave of two Oberleutnants?

Hi,
I'll try to explain, these two guys were buried in what is called Consecrated Ground, that is, controlled by the Church of England, to exhume and move them requires something called a Bishops Faculty, or licence, to obtain this requires the payment of statutory legal fees set by our Government, these increase every year on the first of January.
I hope this explains the problem.
Joe
