Trying to ID location for photo of 4./StG2 Ju87R-1 during 1940
Hello,
Regarding this photo of a 4./StG2 Stuka currently on eBay: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Foto-LW-Luftw...1#ht_915wt_858 This is a Ju87R-1, which first started appearing in II./StG2 around the time of the Dunkirk Evacuation at the end of May and the beginning of June 1940. Prior to that, including at the beginning of the WC on 10.5.40, the unit was equipped with the Ju87B-1. So this photo probably dates to either the latter half of the WC/FC or during the early part of the Battle of Britain (July-Aug, 1940). Does anyone recognize the base from the limited info in the background of this photo? That would tell us a lot about when it is if we can determine this. I plan to use this photo and others as the basis for color profile of T6+JM if I can establish the location and time frame. Regards, Larry Hickey |
