Re: Losses of the 9th AF

Hello Michel,
Here are the Luftwaffe claims for the 2nd July, 1944.
Taken from the Tony Woods files.

P47 a/c claimed.
Uffz. Hermann Wilke - 2/JG27 - 15.05 - Bourguebus/Caen.
Ltn. Ernst-Wilhelm Reinert - 12/JG27 - 15.12 - Orne-Mundury.
Fw. Edmund Wieland - 12/JG27 - 15.14 - Orne-Mundury.
Ltn. Karl Broo - 5/JG53 - 15.16 - Raum Caen.
Ltn. Manfred Thummel - 12/JG27 - - Orne Estuary.

As per my pm in regard to 9th AAF losses they seem to be much less with only one MACR. All the others seem to present mechanical problems and no mention of combat.
There is also the "maybe" the P47's came down in friendly territory, in which case - No MACR and to find their details the Recovery team documents would have to be chased up, good luck with that .
Alex
