Hs123 losses in Polish campaign

Does anyone have any information on the Hs123 losses during the Polish campaign in 1939? A loss/damage list with the date and cause would be fine. Thanks in advance.

Re: Hs123 losses in Polish campaign

These 2 last losses were over Modlin. He 123s were shot down by Polish 40 mm A/A Bofors of Bateria Motorowa nr 8 commanded by kapitan Józef Płodowski. The last pilot was even very shortly Polish POW. He made very stupid attack directly on position of Polish 40 mm A/A - directly attack the barell of 40 mm Bofors, not smart decision but very brave of course. He lost but not life.

regards,
mw

Great information Marek. Here is Harmeling's Pilot Licence. He was shot down again over England in October 1940 while flying a Bf109E-4B fighter-bomber (Werk Nr 5593) with 4./LG2 and taken prisoner.

Re: Hs123 losses in Polish campaign

I have never been any Marek (?), always know me as a Mirek, it is a quite different name, for sure.

If right rember both were shot down by 3-ed platoon of 8 Battery commanded by Tadeusz Jagermann.

Heintz wanted the boold or revange for hight LW losses (on 26.09. 2 Ju 87 were lost over Moldin too), so he made this stupid, single attack on 40 mm barell.

Regards
mirekw

PS, I know both this man (both died a few years ago), so I know it personaly from them.

All this is written in my long story: "Obrona przeciwlotnicza Modlina we wrześniu 1939 roku, Modlin Anti-aircraft Defense in September 1939, 32 b&w photos, 1 map, [in:] Militaria XX wieku wydanie specjalne 3(10)/2009, pp. 26-45 (19 pages).
