News fro Desert Prelude author about future projects
From the Stone & Stone site:
News from Ludovico Slongo 10 November 2011 Ludovico Slongo—co-author with Hakan Gustavsson of the Desert Prelude volumes—kindly sent us these notes about upcoming plans: "The future projects we are already carrying forward are devoted to the air war in East Africa during 1940-41. We are studying the actions of an Italian 'Ghost Squadron' operating in the Northern front against the Commonwealth forces deployed in Sudan. The documents of this unit went all lost at the end of the war, but searching the veterans and their relatives we have unearthed a considerable mass of new data on it, that put new light on all the actions and the claims of that campaign in that sector. Then we'll proceed with the story of all the air campaign in that theatre of war. "Our following project is about Greece, for the moment not Yugoslavia and Crete. It will be a book like Desert Prelude, covering on a daily base only the Greek Campaign of 1940-41. We've not yet started because we are looking for a suitable partner of German language to help us, but we've already collected a lot of material on Italian and Greek air forces and the RAF as well. I can only anticipate to you that, twenty four years after Air war for Yugoslavia, Greece and Crete there is really a lot to write and amend on this subject." Usual disclaimer, Ed |

Re: News fro Desert Prelude author about future projects
Hallo,
Wonderful news ! These two very interesting campaigns badly need updated histories and as such will complement the forthcoming Eagles Over Europe and Chris Shores projects nicely. Based on the excellent quality of research on the Desert Prelude volumes and the CR42 Aces work we have a lot to look forward to. Thanks for posting this good news Ed. Regards in great anticipation, Martin Gleeson. |
