Uffz. Wilhelm Meier + 16.08.1940?

Hi,

Another loss I am trying to establish is that of Uffz. Wilhelm Meier who was a radio operator lost on the 16.08.1940. I can find nothing in my files, books or the German War Graves site. The chap who contacted us has a photo of Wilhelm and I have asked for a copy in the hope that we can construct a page of remembrance.

Can anyone help please?

Regards

Melvin

I had BF Uffz. Wilhelm Maier as flying with Maj. Harry Carl, and Bf Fw Richard Schurk as being lost with Oblt.Hollekamp who was killed when his ripcord was not pulled baling out over Eastborne. Schurk also baled out into the sea his body coming ashore on 4th. Sept.

Hi Brian,

I have just found my ZG2 losses file and can confirm this is the correct R/Op who flew with Major Harry Carl. Both are buried side by side in Champigny St.Andre, France.

Thanks again,

Melvin

Hi Rick,

Thank you for your offer of Wilhelm's Sterbebild, my contact in the U.S has already sent me a scan from the one he has. Really appreciate that you thought of us regarding this loss.

Regards

Melvin
