Re: AAA Claims by US Army of Luftwaffe aircraft

In the UK National Archives are copies of the monthly SHAEF Air Defense Review which have similar content to Ed’s posting, but these are only on paper.

Since these were published, not just filed,, I’d imagine that copies would survive in one or more American archives as well.

Re: AAA Claims by US Army of Luftwaffe aircraft

The NCA in the Dec 44/Jan 45 period has a number of NJG aircraft shot down by AA on night ground attack operations.

Re: AAA Claims by US Army of Luftwaffe aircraft

Okay, to be more specific....currently I am especially looking for AAA Claims (US or UK) for the nights of;

26/27.9.1944
27/28.9.1944
6/7.10.1944

Roughly in the area Aachen-Nijmegen (so quite large)

Thanks,
John

Re: AAA Claims by US Army of Luftwaffe aircraft

The NCA volume for this period has nothing for the 2 nights in Sept but for 6/7 Oct 44 it has 2 Ju 88Gs shot down by allied AA:
3C+AR 7/NJG 4 shot down US AA 6 km east of Maastrich at 2200 hrs
11?NJG 1 crash near Amay Belgium 2000 hrs or possibly shot down Mosquito 410 Sqn

4 Bf 110s were also downed this night
G9+MN 5/NJG 1 downed Mosquito 409 Sqn
G9+HN 6/ NJG 1 downed Mosquito 219 sqn
G9+EC stab II/ NJG1 possibly US P-61 422nd NFS
G9+HN 5/NJG 1 "friendly" flak

there is a map in this volume that shows the crash locations

Re: AAA Claims by US Army of Luftwaffe aircraft

I know the NCA series, but that concerns NJ....I am trying to understand the losses of III./KG 51 (NSG 20).

For what it's worth, a comprehensive overview of the AA Artillery situation and a map showing the positions of AAA defenses against the V-1 in Antwerp.
