Spifire V Tropical crashed near Winchester

Seeking information on a Spitfire V Tropical that crashed near Winchester. The aircraft possibly took off from Eastleigh on an ATA test flight. The remains of the aircraft were recoverd some years ago.

Any information of help.

Trevor,

Spitfire.ukf.net gives BP854 on 15-8-1942. This Vc type was reclassed to VcT on 11-5-42.
Lost in cloud, struck trees, abandoned nr Cherrington, Winchester. Unit 1 FPP.

"i have a bag of relics from one that crashed in 1942 near Cherriton Hants and would like to know more about the aircraft and the crash. Or has anyone got any othe solutions how i can find out about the crash.

BP854 Vc 1 FPP 1 mile south west of Cheriton, Hants 1745 hrs. Cat E. Ferrying. Running short of fuel in bad weather, pilot tried to land but hit a tree, he then climbed to 4,300 ft and abandoned a/c. 1st Officer P. Avery ATA injured;
