Photo French Flying Boat
Hello,
Currently on Delcampe is a photo of a french flying boat with the code G.28 at: https://www.delcampe.net/fr/collecti...841179256.html I believe that the code indicates that the machine was based at Guernsey and it is a FBA, but which version? Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo French Flying Boat
Hello Clint
With his Hispano engine, it's most probably a FBA type H, based at Guernesey, but the shots have been probably taken elsewhere. Regards Jean |

Re: Photo French Flying Boat
Hello Jean,
Thanks for the reply. A couple of follow up questions if I might. You feel it is definitely not a type S. Admittedly Lucien Morareau in les Aeronefs de l'aviation maritime does have the Type H in use on Guernsey, but not the type S. Its just they look so alike I thought I'd better check. My second question you say the shots were probably taken elsewhere. I wondered why you felt this was so, as it sewems to say Guernsey on the back of the postcard. Regards, Clint |

Re: Photo French Flying Boat
Hello Clint
Lucien Morareau states in «*l’aviation Maritime pendant la Grande Guerre*» that FBA type H were deployed at Guernesey in 1918. The radiator shape can give some doubts, this one on the photo generally associated with the type S, but that's a standard part provided by more than one supplier. On the back of the photo I read “Souvenir le 4-11-18” followed by a signature. Regards Jean |

Re: Photo French Flying Boat
Pity the true serial number is over painted on the port side.
One photo shows the aircraft from the starboard side and too far away for any serial to be read, D.12 was the CAM's code. Cheers Stig |

Re: Photo French Flying Boat
Hello,
Currently on ebay there is a photo of a flying boat which may or may not be french, I've assumed that the L2 means that it is a Lorient based machine but this may not be the case. Does anyone recognise the type of flying boat shown or even whether the uniform indicates that it is a french officer? The photo is at : https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-sep...AAAOSwubRfRYgc Regards, Clint |
