Ju 86 Interceptions Aug-Sep 42

I know that Alfred Price has written about the 'Battle in the Stratosphere' but can anyone identify what sqns were scrambled to intercept on the following dates as noted in the 11 Gp ORB (10 Gp was more specific!):
24 Aug 42 (18 Spitfires)
25 Aug 42 (6 Spitfires)
27 Aug 42 (2 Spitfires)
30 Aug 42 (2 Spitfires)
4 Sep 42 (2 Spitfires)
5 Sep 42 (3+2 Spitfires)

Also, does anyone know the identities of the two 94 FS pilots scrambled to intercept 6 Sep 42?

Re: Ju 86 Interceptions Aug-Sep 42

An update for those who are interested:

24 Aug 42: 2 of the Spitfres were probably Hibbert & Phelps of 124 Sqn who reported nothing. Their scramble is noted in the F540 but not in the narrative. 308 Sqn also scrambled two Spitfires at 1505 hrs-no names yet
27 Aug 42: Hibbert, Gregson and Murphy of 124 Sqn had an uneventful scramble which again is not in the narrative.
4 Sep 42: A Section of 124 Sqn scrambled at 1455 hrs, landing at 1610 hrs. This time it is mentioned in the narrative but not identifying pilots and aircraft.
5 Sep 42: Hibbert of 124 Sqn got within 500 yds of what he thought was a He 177. 302 Sqn scrambled 2 Spitfires at 1130 hrs. 609 Sqn scrambled two Spitfires at 1122 hrs.

Of interest, the Special Spitfire Flt was formed at Northolt 5 Sep 42 but Spitfire IXs are mentioned 30 Aug 42 and 4 Sep 42

i read about this in aircraft of the aces..it showed a cut down spitfire Mk7 .the pilot was lower.windscreen was say shorter, and wing tips longer..
as i know one pilot shot down a ju 86P..but it crashed landed in Ghwent france..damaged.
the pilot of the spitfire had 1 gun jam.out of the 2 cannons..

Thank you for your best wishes. I have the details of the combat on 12 Sep 42 which resulted in slight damage & the Ju 86 landed at Caen. What I am after are the failed attempts by other RAF sqns

Re: Ju 86 Interceptions Aug-Sep 42

Hello Chris,
I may be telling you what you already know, but …
24 August, 1x Ju86P engaged in reconnaissance was attacked over the Delta near Alexandria by a Spitfire on a test flight. Ju 86 initially reported as destroyed, later report says damaged.
Haven’t read 'Battle in the Stratosphere' so don’t know if this incident is mentioned.
Regards,
Bruce

Re: Ju 86 Interceptions Aug-Sep 42

Thanks Bruce. My interest is purely UK but interesting that the Ju 86 was doing the same over Egypt at the same times. Alfred Price's account is based around the only successful interception on 12 Sep 42 not the whole campaign (albeit a campaign lasting just over 2 weeks!)
