Abbreviations in RAF ORBs
Hello,
Could someone help me with following abbreviations which I found in some 213 Sqn combat reports: my leader reported two aircraft approaching from 11 o'clock on a course approximately reciprocal to our own, flying at A.4 What does A.4 stand for? Could it be Altitude 4.000 ft? I.A.L. Flak encountered What is I.A.L? Intensive and light flak? Cheers, Boris |

Re: Abbreviations in RAF ORBs
For I.A.L. Flak, it could be "intense accurate light Flak", as least this expression can be often found in ORB written in full.

Re: Abbreviations in RAF ORBs
A.4 could be "Angels 4" = 4,000 ft, as you suggest.
