Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
I was given this book some years ago which explains all known Luftwaffe aeronautical terms and abbreviations. Has anyone else seen this book (produced in the war by Air Intelligence) and does anything think whether getting it reprinted would be of value?

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
Chris,
I have not seen it. A quick search gave me no results. It may be worthwhile for researchers. Only a short run of 100 to 150 copies I would guess. |

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
TTBOMK, there were two versions. One was a massive work of some 500+ pages that would be in far excess of everyone here except for the wreck recovery guys. The other one was an abbreviated version containing just the most commonly encountered words and terms:
[Air Ministry, A.I.12, London]. Manual of German Air Force Terminology. German-English. Part I: Administrative and General Terms; Part II: Aeronautical Terms; Part III: Signals, Radar and Electrical Terms; Part IV: Flak Terms; Part V: Motor Transport Terms with Abbreviations; and, Part VI: Abbreviations. Total of 263 pages. Originally published as a service manual in May 1945, 2,000 copies being printed by P.L.H. & Co., Ltd. Some 25 or 30 years ago it was reprinted as a spiral-bound notebook by unknown parties connected to the plastic modeling industry. Someone tipped me off about then and I got my copy from a bookdealer in Utah. It is now unavailable, I am told. L. |

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
Larry,
I would put the abbreviated version in the hard to find category. https://www.amazon.com/Manual-German.../dp/1847910459 |

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
Ed -
I think that may be yet another reprint. I got mine in the mid- or late-1990's and this one on Amazon says 2007. L. |

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
Larry,
I agree. A more in-depth search may locate earlier editions. However, a later reprinting indicates that there is some demand for this title. How much is the question. |

Re: Luftwaffe/RAF/USAAF Lexicon
I think the Lexicon that Chris has would be a great resource. I would certainly be interested if it were reprinted.
My copy of the Air Ministry A.1.12 Manual that Larry mentioned is comb-bound. I got it on eBay, about 10 years ago. FYI, two other publications I've found useful:
