Losses in the New Forest 1941
Good Afternoon All,
I am looking into the loss of three German Aircraft on the 8th July 1941 in the New Forest area. These aircraft are; Unidentified enemy aircraft crashed Boldrewood. 5612/6N+GK He111H-3, 2/KGr100,shot down by 604SQ,cr Manor Farm Efford,4 killed. 3992/IT+HL He111h-5 ,3/KG28, shot down by 604SQ,cr Slade Farm Pilley,3 killed. Is anyone able to identify the aircraft brought down at Bolderwood? Details of the KG26 and Bloderwood crews would be most useful also. Thanks, Del. |

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
These should all be listed in 'The Blitz, Then & Now, volume 2'.

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
Brian,
Thank you thats exactly what I was after. It looks like the JU88 from from 3/KFG 106 is the one I'm looking for. Does it record the details of the Crew? Yes, Slade Farm and Boldre are recorded in many records as the same place. However Slade Farm is actually in a village called Pilley which is the next village. Thanks again for your help all ways appreciated. Del. |

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
If the aircraft came down on land, its crash site would have been recorded in this book. Thus, the KuFlGr 106 ac is not what you are after as it is missing on ops as opposed to crashing on land

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
Del,
Are you sure of the date of the third crash you are looking for .From memory there was a Ju 88 at Ringwood ( I do not know if that counts as New Forest ) in 1943 and a Ju 188 at Exbury in 1944, Regards Brian Bines |

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
Brian,
Yes I am quite sure there were three aircraft brought down in the New Forest following a raid on Southampton docks. HE111's at Boldre and Efford and an unidentified aircraft at Bolderwood. It is the details of this last aircraft that I am having trouble tracing. The Forestry Commision have records of a crash at that location on that date but have no further details. Thanks for your interest. Del. |

Re: Losses in the New Forest 1941
Try digging up back issues of Aeromilitaria published quarterly by Air Britain. They have been running a list of aircraft crashes in the UK from the beginning of the war. It lists German and British crashes, with locations. The most recent issue I received is up to Sept 1942.
Frank.
