Oberfeldwebel Heribert Koller 1920-2017
Dear Forum members,
it is my sad duty to inform you that Oberfeldwebel and DKiG holder Heribert Koller from JG 54 has passed away on 14 August. He was born on 10 December 1920.
In 2003–2015 I had the honour hosting several foreign veteran visits to Finland. Koller´s visit in September 2010 was perhaps the most emotional one, since he was here already in 1944 in the Gefechtsverband Kuhlmey. During the visit we saw his old "workplace" Immola airfield, graves and memorials of his former Kameraden, met many Finnish veterans, etc. He was very touched when he realised that the Finns, both young and old, still remembered and wanted to thank him for the help given during the critical summer of 1944.
