December 8th 1944
On this date No.3 Group attacked Duisburg in daylight. Various official documents state that there was no German opposition, however letters and other private documents from participating crews mention Bf109s and FW190s making passes on the gaggle and being intercepted by escorting RAF fighters. Can anyone confirm please.
Thank you.

Re: December 8th 1944
Hello Steve,
according to Jagdfliegerverbände Vol. 13/II page 482 no German fighters were involved, but the flak claimed two downings (footnote 1862: source Wehrmachtführungsstab, Luftlagemeldungen Westen, 8.12.1944). Regards Leo |
