I./JG 52 on March 11 1945?

Hello,

I have found one document in archive where is confirmation of shot-down 5 Il-2s on March 11 1945 by Lt. Resch (2), Ogefr. Schumacher (1), Oblt. Klemenz (1) and Uffz. Roll (1) around 12 o´clock in Area of villages Ksiezyce-Damianowo-Goszalkow Gorny-Konary-Dragomilowice-Jenkow. Villages are situated east of Jawor (former Jauer) and north of Strzegom (former Striegau), Silesia, Poland.

I can not identify unit, but I suppose it could be I./JG 52´s fighters. Can somebody confirm it?

I am interested in if somebody somewhere (in books, articles etc.) described this dog-fight as well.

Could somebody help me?

Thanks

Michal

Resch could be Anton Resch, Staka 3./JG 52

Thanks for reply. Yes, I guess it could be Lt. Anton Resch (I did thought it), but I am wonder about other pilots. I assume they were from I./JG 52 but would like to confirm that all served in that time in I./JG 52 as well.

Měj se

Hello Michal,

Ogefr. Schumacher mentioned in your post could be Ogefr. Heinz Schuhmacher (i.e. not Schumacher), pilot of Stab/JG 52, who was wounded in aerial combat in Pl.Qu. 71447 just five days later, on 16.3.1945. I guess the Stab pilot could take part in I./JG 52´s action as both units shared their base at Weidengut (Wierzbie) at that time.

Re: I./JG 52 on March 11 1945?

Michael,

Here's a message from Bernd-Dieter Barbas:
Lt Resch was a member of 3. / JG52 = I Gruppe
OGefr Schumacher was a member of Staff/JG 52
Oblt Klemenz was a member of 10. ex 8./ JG52 = III Gruppe
Uffz Roll is unknown to me.

This sounds very confusing, but I Gruppe, III Gruppe and Staff operated
tight together during spring 45 and also surrendered together.

Bernd Barbas

Please check your PM.
