Polish loss for KG 152

On 5 September 1939, 1. Fliegerdivision reported the loss of a He111 belonging to I./KG152. It claimed that the Bf and Bm both bailed out but were subsequently shot by flak/fighters with the result that the entire crew were killed. The reported cause of loss was an explosion in the air.

My question is when did this unit formally cease to exist? According to Michael Holme's site, the unit was slated to become part of LG3 and there is no further information beyond May 1939.

Incidentally, the crew comprised of:
Oblt. Freiherr von Loudon (F)
Fw. Raub (B)
Uffz. Peters (Bm)
Uffz. Friedrichs (Bf)

Re: Polish loss for KG 152

Hello Adam,

I./KG152 existed until 18 September 1939, when it became II./KG1.

Best Regards,

Re: Polish loss for KG 152

Did I./LG 3 actually exist (even for a short while on paper only)?

Looking at II./KG 1 on Holm's site, it says it was formed on 18.9.39 from I./LG 3 and not from I./KG 152. Holm has nothing on the unit, only gives it a mentioning.

Checking de Zeng/Stankey they are almost certain I.(K)/LG 3 never was formed, but since they use the word 'probably' they were not 100% sure when writing their book.

Anyone who can stick his neck out and confirm I./LG 3 never was formed?

Cheers
Stig

Dear Adam,
There is some information on this site: http://twierdzakolobrzeg.pl/twierdza...ow-rzesznikowo
It's in Polish, but I suppose you are Polish too. :-)

Oops, no I can see you live in Australia. (Adam is a frequent name in Poland, that's why I thought you were Polish.)
The part about Erik von Loudon says that on the 5th of September one He111H was shot down near the village of Piotrkowice (Ślesin). It was a crew consisting of a pilot, Lt. Erik von Loudon, an observer Fw. Konrad Raub, a board mechanician Uffiz. Albert Peters, and a radio operator Uffiz. Anton Friedrichs. The pilot and the observer got into Polish captivity and the rest of the crew died.

By the way, I wonder if the village of Pinnow mentioned in the text is the same Pinnow that Herbert Ihlefeld came from. :-)

No, its not. Pinnow where Herbert Ihlefeld was born is in north-eastern Brandenburg, Germany, while the other Pinnow is part of the city of Plathe (currently polish Płoty) north of Stettin (Szczecin), Pomerania.
