Remi looking at Qm's returns dated 2-10-43 there is the loss of F1+CK on 9-Sept. three crew shown as missing but changed to injured while the pilot is shown as returned unwounded any chance this might be Fw. Hecklau.

Re: 9. September 1943 above Salerno

Sorry Remi I do not have any KG76 NVM's apart from a couple for I/KG76 for the first Steinbock attacks. The admenments for the return of these crewmen from the 9th Sept. mission were on QM's reports dated 19th and 27th Oct. does the KTB has any mention of this,

Regards

Brian

Re: 9. September 1943 above Salerno

Quite strangely the KTB that shows all the groups, apart the IV., who is giving for the whole KG76, general figures , is just focused for description of ops on the Med. theater, In fact it seems that this KTB has been written or after or in the last days of the war..
i hv maybe for you some NVM of the KG77,

Remi

With Richter we hv to wait that someone write the story of the KG76..

Re: 9. September 1943 above Salerno

If I may interfere - do you know what were the targets of KG76 in Salerno between 8th and 11th of September?!

Have a nice day,
Andrzej

Re: 9. September 1943 above Salerno

Cant help much I am afraid the Luft Qm's returns for KG 76 losses has 6th Sept Bizerta in brackets after the aircraft loss, Neapol on the 10th Sept. and Gulf of Salerno on the 13th Sept. On the 8th Sept a missing crew of II/KG30 has Neapol in brackets shown as target,

Re: 9. September 1943 above Salerno

Thank you Brian and Remi,

in my notes about Polish destroyer PIORUN I have:
PIORUN with HMS PETARD as a part of covering force downed one enemy torpedo bomber attacking battleships of Force H.
I'm not sure whether this happened on 8 or 9 IX 1943 so any details on the attacks on Allied battleships on those days would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you once again for your help

Andrzej

PS.
On 8 IX 1943 Force H consisted of:
4 BB NELSON & RODNEY and VALIANT & WARSPITE
2 CV ILLUSTRIOUS and FORMIDABLE
19 DD including PIORUN and PETARD

On 9 IX 1943 Division 2 departed (2 BB, 1 CV, 8 DD) apart of FORMIDABLE
