2Lt.Alvin LeRoy KIA July 31,44 15th Air Force

2Lt.Alvin LeRoy Drach was a Navigator eventually Bombardier with 15th Air Force of an unknown Bomber Group. He was killed on July 31, 1944 to or from a Romanian target ,but no other info is avialble . On that day 2 Libs and 2 Forts were lost over Romania while he wasn't in any of them, no BG reported an airborne loss by such name over Romania but if it did is not included in any of my books .

If KIA while airborne then he would have been buried in Italy, if KIA in Romania either listed as MIA or buried somewhere in Romania or Belgium . 3Fold , Find a Grave and DPAA has no information whatsoever on his fate.

Cheers
Alex K

Perhaps killed in an aircraft which made it back to base, therefore no MACR or Loss or Accident report.

Alex,

NARA (Record Group 92) has this casualty/MACR card, unfortunately with no further info except for his number: O-723592. See https://catalog.archives.gov/id/1552...objectPage=709
