St.Kap. - 3./ZG 1
Hi,
Oblt. R. Gebhardt was lost as St.Kap. on 18/09/1942, found on this forum and in J.Vasco’s excellent The Sting of the Luftwaffe. More info can be found in the Career Summaries. But checking on a Oblt. Meyer-Elbach from the same book ; in the same Summaries, surprised to read that he was too St.Kap. 3./ZG 1 from 01/06/1942, overlapping a short period with Oblt. Gebhardt. Could he be i.V. during an absence/wounded period of Gebhardt? Or perhaps he became St.Kap. when Gebhardt was lost. According to the Summaries Meyer-Gerlach could the St.Kap. up to april 1943. Thx in advance, Dirk |

Re: St.Kap. - 3./ZG 1
Dirk
Mayer and Stipdonk also had problems when writing their Zerstörer & Nachtjagdverbände Vol 1. This is what they say 1.6.42 - 22.4.43? Oblt Willy Meyer-Gerlach (note spelling, no idea who Meyer-Elbach was) 1.11.42-14.4.43? Hptm Wilfried Herrmann No mention of any Oblt R Gebhardt, but one should always keep in mind that the St Kap are notoriously difficult sometimes to pinpoint. Cheers Stig |
