Change of size of markings on Bf.110 nightfighters

Dear all,

When did the Geschwader markings on Bf.110 nightfighters change from normal size to small size and when did the black crosses change to white crosses?

I expect it differed from unit to unit when this occured, but perhaps there is some time frame? Somehow I guess it may be end 1943, however I hope one of the experts can help me out.

Hans,

The change also occurred with the 110 day aircraft. This has been covered, I think, on the old board, and what came out of it was that the change to smaller unit codes occurred around the middle of 1943, according to photographs that one could put a definite date to. Can't be more specific than that, I'm afraid.

BTW, perhaps somebody knows a simple way to visit topics on the old Board. I've tried in vain with Google...

I have the change as occurring in early 1943, but as yet have never found the documentation for it. And, there should be some around because it applied to all Luftwaffe operational a/c.
