Fw 190 A-3 of Ernst Mayer, JG 5 in March 1945
Hello there,
I just stumbled across one of the marking options in one of Eduard's Fw 190 kits: Fw 190 A-3, 130541, "White 12+o", flown by Ernst Mayer in Herdla, spring 1945: https://i.pinimg.com/originals/a4/39...1bf91d9a24.jpg http://www.jagdgeschwader5und7.de/s/...g?t=1446823529 Now, I have found one picture showing a frontal view of this aircraft, but none other..Are there any? And what's the source for this plane's Werknummer? Kind regards, Christian |

Re: Fw 190 A-3 of Ernst Mayer, JG 5 in March 1945
Regarding the serial number, it is something that in Poland we call 'Czech mistake' (nomen omen...). In the instructions of the 'Royal Class' boxing, where 'White 12' initially appeared, it was the next option after the true W.Nr. 0130541, but someone forgot to delete the number from the page title that had been obviously copied from the previous page to be reworked into the right one (see here: https://www.eduard.com/out/media/R0016.pdf) Afterwards the person who recently developed the latest issue of Eduard Info, where the new 'Weekend' boxing - featuring 'White 12' again - is announced, simply copied the information from the old instructions - in good faith, as the graphic designers usually don't have any idea (and don't need to have) about the stuff they put together. That's the most probable course of events.
Concerning the photos, there exists one more picture showing Meier sitting in the cockpit of 'White 12'. You'll find both pics in Flugzeug Foto-Archiv Band 9, s.51. Regards, Maciej |

Aha, that makes sense - thank you Maciej! Also thanks for the photo reference, I will see if I can get hold of it.

Yes, 9./JG 5 had a few of these during that period. At least three are known from photos (White 4, 9, 12).

Re: Fw 190 A-3 of Ernst Mayer, JG 5 in March 1945
Very nice list, thank You
I have some problems with the WNr listed for the Stab II./JG 5 581166 does not exist and when it comes to 63801010 I can only locate 638010, but is that the one you mean? Cheers Stig |

Re: Fw 190 A-3 of Ernst Mayer, JG 5 in March 1945
Maciej do you happen to have the Flugzeug Foto-Archiv Band 9 which you have mentioned above?
Odybvig - can we assume that the White 12+o was one of those WNrs: 130436, 132173, 135415, 135446? |
