Hi Remi,
the first loss for NSGr. 1 in RL 2 III 858 is dated 04 Jul 44. Nothing earlier.

Re: Losses of Nachtschlachtgruppe 1 in June 1944

Hi, all

The 1. and 2. Staffel of NSGr. 1 was not in operation for most of June 1944. They were at Kauen for Umrüstung according to the Einsatzbereitschaftmeldungen.

For example - on June 10th 1944 these Staffeln had zero aircraft on strength, they got Ju 87s in the following 10 day period, but where waiting for their assigned aircraft model.

The only losses in June/July must have been aircraft from Stab/NSGr 1 (He 46) or 3./NSGr 1 (Go 145 and He 46).

The 1. Staffel did not report any operational crew until July 31st 1944, by mid/late June the 3. Staffel was also refitting and non-operational.

So I am not that surprised of a very limited number of aircraft reported in June/July.

But there is another issue, and that is the fact that if you look at RL 2 III 858, the NSGr 1 report starts with Blatt 2 - thus an entire sheet is missing from the file. Either it has been misplaced and is currently reciding in another folder of the summary loss records, or it has simply been lost altogether.

So we must suspect that about 16 loss dates (8 per page and front and back of Sheet 1 missing) are missing from these records.

Regards,
Andreas B
