English honorary title practice

I just encountered a in which Lord Beaverbrook was addressed as "Max Beaverbrook". As far as I know, that is very wrong. What say you Englishmen?

Re: English honorary title practice

Depends on how well you know the guy. It also depends on whether he was a current lord or would one day inherit the title. There are whole books devoted to this mediaeval nonsense, e.g. "Debrett's Correct Form" because it is so complex.

Re: English honorary title practice

The person whote wrote so is Finnish and wrote so in a history doctoral thesis. I.e. he referred to "Max Beaverbrook the minister of trade".
