P-51 D 1Lt-Gus D. Leslie 55FG 343FS 5 November 1944

Hello,
Due anybody known where 1Lt Gus D. Leslie crash with his P-51D-5NA on 5 November 1944 Time: 12:15
I know he was hit by Flak over Eberbach (Germany)
and he was last seen, how he flew strait the direction in the Odenwald Area.

Hello,

"Double Nickel Double Trouble" by Lt Col R M Littlefield has what you seek I feel.

Leslie in a/c "CY-A" serial number 44-13363 became a POW. His room mate was 2Lt.Jordon Eliades.

He is reported as attacking a locomotive and he sharp turned to the right heading toward a large town. As he approached from the west at approx 200ft light flak was sent up, he then chandelled (?) to the right, his last reported position was given as SE of where he was hit with flak altitude 400ft.

There also may be details in "The 55th Fighter Group vs the Luftwaffe" by John M Gray.

Good evening Klaus and Alex !

This case seems a tricky one. It doesn't show up for this day in the J-, KU-,ME etc. collection of the National Archives, arranged day-by-day.

Fortunately, the pilot survived here. It is very usual in circumstances like this, that the information, compiled by Luftgaukommando and DuLag Luft West were not found entrance into the MACR as a paper file. The pilot survived and was in ZOI.

Here, please find to get the November 5th file in record group 242 in National Archives, arranged day-by-day to see, if you find another entrance for a Mustang crash at Gross-Wallstadt, Oberspeltach, or Geroldsau.
Those cases are cleared by MACR+J-reports, but your case is still
mysterious.

1215 hrs - Mustang - J2413 - Geroldsau, Baden/Baden.
1235 hrs - Mustang - J2411 - Gross wallstadt, 10km S of Aschaffenburg.
1235 hrs - Mustang - KU3285/J2411 - Gross wallstadt.
1445 hrs - Mustang - KU3271
1445 hrs - Mustang - J2374
1630 hrs - Mustang - J2391 - serial no: 42-110518 ( non existant serial number ?)

Losses
RAF - Nil
8AAF - MACR 10445 - 44-14339 - 4FG 335FS - "WD -U " - Baden-Baden.
8AAF - MACR 10441 - 44-13363 - 55FG 343FS - "Bama Blitz" - "CY-A" - Eberbach.( time: started to strafe locomotive at 1205 hrs aprox, then five more passes then hit at 1215 hrs aprox, last heard approx 1225 hrs).
8AAF - MACR 10428 - 44-14857 - 359FG 369FS - "IV- " - Alzey.
9AAF - MACR 10277 - 44-14016 - 354FG 356 FS - "AJ-O" - vicinity of Schwabisch Hall.
15AAF - MACR 9682 - 42-103570 -52FG 2FS - "QP-L" - 4610N/1700E.

i got information about this attack at this date, Eyewitthness told me that, but i got not the information about the crashside, that is the mystery think for me.
what chance do we have to find out the right infaormation?
Do you have any idea?
