German translation

Hello, Forumites
Could somebody explain what the statement “Abschussubersicht” means, ie NJG1 abschussubersicht confirmed. I have looked on Google for a translate and I keep getting offered “Abschussbericht”!

Re: German translation

The trick is to split it into its component parts—Abschuss and Übersicht—then translate each bit. It means an overview or digest of kills.

Re: German translation

"Abschussübersicht" translates to "Overview of aerial victories"

Cheers,
Christian

It does in this context but »Abschuss« is also used when tanks are knocked out.

Re: German translation

I had worked out the two components, “shooting down” and “overview”. Strung together the phrase seemed a bit odd. I just wondered if the expression had a specific meaning🤔🤔
Thanks for your inputs
Andy

Re: German translation

we luftwaffe guys translate it as kill report. it is a standing term. the report has to cover all known facts like position, type observed, hits, wreckage etc etc

Re: German translation

Hello Egbert,

don't mix it with the "Abschußbericht".
Regards

Daniel
