Unhappy French pilot Robert Pailloncy infos needed !

Hallo,

I'm looking for any information about the following french pilot officer : Robert Eugène Pailloncy, born june 15 1918. He could have been a P47 pilot KIA over Germany at the end of the war. I couldn't find anything in the usual listings.
Any info deeply appreciated !

Source: "Pilotes français sur l'Alsace et l'Allemagne", page 655

2 May 1945
Sous-lieutenant PAILLONCY BURIN D'AYSSARD of GC III/3 "Ardennes" took off at 10h00 for a weather recon but lost radio contact at 10h50 over Freiburg. Infantrymen of 81e RI found his body the next day, in the trees of a forest near St Märgen, about 15 km east of Freiburg. After bailing out the pilot received fatal injuries when landing in trees.

At this time GC III/3 was flying with P-47 and was based at Colmar. No serial is given for the aircraft of Pailloncy.

Hope it helps

Laurent

Hi Stephane,

Nice to hear from you after a few years. I visited the crashplace a few years ago. A good friend of mine, found the bracelet with the engraved Name of the Pilot

GC III/3 / Ardennes / Republic P-47 D Thunderbolt / Patrol / Bad Weather - Fog / Crashed at a Hill called „Wagensteig“, Spirzenbach, near St. Märgen, Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg) - Deutschland / Sous-Lieutenant Robert E. Pailloney / KIA

Hope to hear from you!

All the best,

Fred
