Crash Landed 55FG 38FS P-38

Old Expired Ebay auction of a crash landed P-38J of the 55th Fighter Group, 38th Fighter Squadron being examined by German soldiers. Haven'tbeen able to identify, although I believe its one of two lost on May 21,1944.
Anyone identify?

Possibly 42-67301, "Mississippi Mudcat", CG-Z (bar), flown by Leon M Patterson. The plane was lost on 31 January, 1944. It crash landed in a potato field in the Netherlands. His story is here:

MACR starts here: https://www.fold3.com/image/28715559

In the MACR, the markings are given as CG-Z (over a bar) and with a triangle on the tail. (The MACR eyewitness did not see the plane crash-land but saw it off the coast while still in the air.)
