23.Jun 44. P-51C Frederick Fisher 52FG/5FS - KIA
Hello all
On 23rd. of June 1944. 2nd lt. Frederick Fisher Edwin was flying (P-51 C) on a mission to Ploiesti. According to MACR 6075 he was involved in a dogfight with me 109 and he was last sighted 25 M east of Bucharest. However on a way back his wing man Dwaine R. Franklin heard him on a radio requesting course. Dwaine was near Adriatic at that time and gave location (approx 20M west of Kotor, Yugo) in MACR. MACR states (point 4) that he was last sighted on a location given by Dwaine, not location when he was last heard. Fisher was KIA and on many web locations including fold 3 it is 20 M west of Kotor which is Dubrovnik region (Croatia) and at that time enemy territory. I wasn't able to find any other info on this. Where he was killed (crashed) and buried, was he later transferred to US? any info would be greatly appreciated. as always thanks in advance Antun |
