Do 335 with He 162
Good morning,
http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/album....&pictureid=650 Can anyone identify the Do 335 in the above picture and where the picture was taken? The object of my curiosity is actually the identity of the wrecked He 162 in front of it. To my eye the werknummer of the He 162 is 22xxxx and the stammkennzeichen is WA+Sx. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Jim Last edited by Karoband; 15th September 2019 at 16:55. |

Re: Do 335 with He 162
Hello Jim!
Same picture was published at Manfred Griehl´s book " Dornier Do 335, Do 435, Do 635", Motorbuch Verlag ISBN 3-613-02380-6, page 215. According to Griehl this was Do 335 A-1 Werk-Nr. 240161, captured by US troops on airfield Neubiberg. Later given to British Air Ministry as AM 225, crashed at Merville in December 1945. Hope this will help! Herzliche Grüsse aus Oberschwaben, Wolfgang |

Thank you, Wolfgang.
I'll start looking at the photos I have of wrecks at Neubiberg. Jim |

Re: Do 335 with He 162
This one is Do 335 A-1, ex 1/3 that was found at Oberpfaffenhofen, later shipped to USA. On the wing a data plate was found with the serial 240165. In my opinion the photograph was taken at Oberpfaffenhofen and not as noted on the NARA photo in France.

Thank you, Simon.
I could find no indication of an He 162 in the photos I have of Me 262s 110376 and 111728 at Neubiberg. |

Looks to me like there are two (2) of them in the photo...

Good eye, Bronc.
The engine nacelle of a BMW 003 is different than that of a Jumo 004. I missed it. |

Re: Do 335 with He 162
Hello gentlemen!
That means all the information to this Do 335 given by Griehl are wrong? How reliable is this book at all? Herzliche Grüsse aus Altshausen (near Mengen) Wolfgang |

You did your due diligence when you referenced Griehl as your source. To me as an academic, a no is as good as a yes. It simply means I have to go on hunting. You should assume Griehl to be correct until he is proven to be wrong usually by new information. However, do not assume Griehl is always correct. Thank you again, Jim |

Re: Do 335 with He 162
As a matter of fact, there are two He-162's in that pile, as well as a cowl of a 109.
