Please help me agree in which unit was on the end our pilot in 2.3.1945 on Pommeren area , maybe it will be useful:

Reformed 27.2.45 in Grossenhain from II./ZG76 with:
Stab III./JG54 from Stab II./ZG76
9./JG54 from 4./ZG76
10./JG54 from 5./ZG76
11./JG54 from 6./ZG76
Disbanded 5.4.45.

On 7.2.45 redesignated III./JG54:
Stab II./ZG76 became Stab III./JG54
4./ZG76 became 9./JG54
5./ZG76 became 10./JG54
6./ZG76 became 11./JG54
http://www.ww2.dk/air/zerstorer/zg76.htm

''...Dortenmann was named acting Gruppenkommandeur of III./JG 54 on 30 December and remained in this role until 11 February 1945. On 1 January 1945, Dortenmann led III./JG 54 on Operation Bodenplatte against Brussels-Grimbergen airfield, from which 12 of its 17 pilots that flew the mission failed to return. 12./JG 54 was disbanded on 19 February 1945 with its pilots being distributed throughout the rest of III./JG 54 and Dortenmann taking command of 11./JG 54. On 25 February, III./JG 54 was absorbed into JG 26 with Dortenmann’s 11./JG 54 becoming 14./JG 26. On 29 March 1945, Oberleutnant Dortenmann was appointed Staffelkapitän of 3./JG 26. Re: Kohlhoff, Dietrich Lt III/JG-54 Fw 190A-8 Werk# 961619

Kris,

from the VBL, LJ 512, II./ZG 76, 4. - 6.Staffel:

Name/name: Kohlhoff, Dietrich
Beruf/occupation: Berufssoldat
Geburtsdatum/born: 22.05.1916 in Kolberg/Pommern
Dienstgrad/rank: Leutnant
Letzte Meldung/last message from: Jakobshagen, 03.1945

The informations for the VBL were providet by the famlies of the missing- these were often not up-to-date regarding units and/or the dates and loctions of the last known message.

About "We looking for next pilot:"

AFAIK the registriatrion of German gravesides in eastern Europe is still far away from beeing complete - if there ever was any registered burial place.

So there are some options regarding the fate of the Luftwaffe personal still listed as missing:

-They were never recovered
-they were recovered and are buried as unknown
-they were pronounced dead
-they were mentioned in the VBL, but returned from captivity or were recovered later

In the VBL of the JG-, ZG-, NJG-, SG- and NSG-units only there were around 350 persons listed as missing or sent a last message from nowadays Polish territory in 1945.

The following link may be helpful about this subject, even if not related to the Luftwaffe only:

Heuser
