Fliegerzielstaffel 50
Anyone who knows if Fliegerzielstaffel 50 in Norway were equipped with the Me109 G-2 variant?

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
Hello
Of what I know from Fliegerziel-units, the Bf109 G-2 seems quite modern compared to the other, older types of aircraft like He111 P's, Do17's etc. On the other hand, everything is possible in the Luftwaffe. Best regards, Marcel

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
They are not currently digitised but Bundesarchiv files RL 2-III/881 and /882 give very detailed breakdwons of the aircract held by Luftwaffe units in 1944. I only took notes for units in Italy so I can't say for certain how much help these files would be for Fliegerzielgeschwader.

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
Nick,
Thanks for the suggestions in BA-MA, does the files include more information as tactical numbers and Wnr. ? I have earlier tried to find the identity of the crashlanded Me109G in Norway sometime around august-november 1944. (http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=45329&) Perhaps the G-2 machine belonged to another unit as Fz.-St. 50 than JG 5 as I originally thought. |

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
No, but (for the units I have notes on) it does include details of sub-types. For example on 31 August 1944, 2./NAGr. 11's strength included a Bf 109 G-5/U2/R2 and five Bf 109 G-8/R5.

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
I have complete transcriptions of files RL 2 III/881 and 882. They are very detailed, but do not include the Fliegerziel units. Sorry.

If there are any data for Aufklärungsstaffel Kaatsch for the period 30 August–30 September 1944, I'd very much like to have copies if at all possible. |

Re: Fliegerzielstaffel 50
Fliegerzielstaffel 50 was established on 30 June 1944 by renaming Luftdienstkommando (LD-Kdo) Norwegen at Kjevik airfield near Kristiansand in Norway. On 31 July 1944 the unit had on strength 4 x He 111, 5 Do 17, 4 Bf 109, 2 Bf 108, 2 W.34 and 2 FW 58. No specifications of subtypes were given.
All available reports up to the units disbandment at Kjevik on 10 December 1944, are the same with no reference to sub-types. |
