Force landed USAF bomber 1945

Hi all!In materials 812IAP, there is very interesting history - In February, 1945 (approximately February, 14) on airfield Malaszewicze(Poland) on which were a fighter 812IAP the American four-motor fortress has landed. Was noise much, pilots have got acquainted with Americans and some days communicated. Further 812IAP has flown on other airfiled and that with Americans became not known. Whether really to define who it was? What has taken place with crew? Veterans speak that it was B-24 and he sat on a stomach in airfield.Best regardsVlad

Vlad,
can this bomber be B-17G-100-BO 43-38912 (of USAF 18 BS), which according to my notes landed at Malaszewicze 18 March 1945, and later was used by 45 TBAD of (Soviet) 18 VA?

Re: Force landed USAF bomber 1945

Thanks Carl!

I too think that it he. I was confused with date. The veteran spoke February and there was a dirty. The plane long turned and has then landed. I think that the veteran was mistaken and has mixed February and March. You do not know - the crew of this bomber from 34BG is alive?

Best Regards
Vlad

Vlad, unforunatedly I have no further info. I suggest you put the question on eg. this forum http://www.armyairforces.com/forum/ which is specialized in the history of the heavy American bombers (B-17 and B-24 etc)
