USAAF WW2 Officer's "crush" Cap - silver or golden Eagle?

Dear all,

Am writing on behalf of a good friend of mine who acquired a full Colonel WW2 US Army Air Force Service Dress.

He does not have the Officer's "crush" Cap, which he is looking for. While researching and discussing, we found that there are two issues (it seems for us) or versions of the Eagle weared on this kind of Cap:
a) A silver one (http://www.snyderstreasures.com/eBay...0/DSCN0638.JPG and here: https://www.google.com.br/search?q=W...Y0OQRAYDVl7jM:)

b) A Golden one (http://www.google.com.br/url?sa=i&rc...161286&cad=rjt)

We are not experts and tried to find the WW2 Official Regulation about the Officer's Cap (which we did not).

Please, could some American (or foreigner with the knowledge) enlight us about which version was used by Officers of the rank of Colonel?

I understand that Junior ranks (2nd/Lieutenant up to Lt.-Colonel) perhaps should wear the Silver Eagle and the Golden Eagle was for Colonel and above...or vice-versa.

Anyway, any kind of help would be most welcomed and my friend will buy the Regular and Correct Officers Cap to complete his set.

Most humbly yours
Adriano B.

Hi Adriano,

Try posting your query here:

Going on comments I've read online in the past, Snyders are to be avoided!

Cheers,

Bruce

All WWII US Officers (Army or Air Corps, regardless of rank) eagles were gold in color. There were different manufacturers of the eagles, but all were gold.

Post WWII, the eagle was silver on the blue visors.

REVI16 and Bruce,

Thank you for enlighting us....I already passed the information for my "brother-in-arms" so he can complete his original set of full Colonel of the US Army Air Corps accordingly.

MANY thanks for your inputs and information

Adriano B.
