US Navy Lt Linfield Lee Hunt "Fell Out" of plane January 7, 1932

On January 7, 1932 Lt Linfield Lee Hunt "fell out" of US Navy plane at Hampton Roads, Virginia and saved his life by parachute

I assume this was a Vought O2U Corsair

Newspapers of 8th Jan 1932 say 'yesterday'

Drops 3,000 Feet and lands in Water near Fort Wool

Fell out of seaplane, at 10:10 am Chief Aviation Pilot William Milton Bowlin brought plane under control and landed it safely. Hunt attached to US Squadron five. Hunt picked up by naval vessels and transferred aboard the cruiser Augusta. 30 minutes in water .Small seaplane. Hunt attached to cruiser Trenton (CL-11). VS-5B

He was not injured. It appears Hunt was flying and Bowling passenger, when Hunt fell out Bowlin took over and landed the aircraft

Incident happened in vicinity of Old Point and Fort Wool - And he actually may have abandoned aircraft that had got into a tail spin and he could not recover it. After Hunt left the plane, Bowlin righted it and landed

Orlando Evening Star Orlando, Florida

Can anyone ID the serial number and type of plane Hunt and Chief Aviation Pilot William Milton Bowlin were flying? Thanks Paul
