III./JG52 losses on 04. & 05.09.1942

Hello,

While studying the latest volume of the Jagdfligerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe series, I've noticed a discrepancy in the losses.

In the loss chart on pages 568 and 570 the following data is shown for the 04.09.42

Bf109G-2 WNr.14168, 9./JG52, Uffz. Walter Uhlmann (verl.), I-16 gerammt, S Mosdok, 100%, ge.10+~

and the 08.09.42
Bf109G-2 WNr.13628, 7./JG52, Uffz. Gerog Koppe (verm.), Motorstörung Luftkampf - Notlandung, SÖ Mosdok, 100%, ws.7+~

In the textual part on page 526, the loss of (I persume) WNr.13628 is described as it happened the day after Uffz. Uhlmann collided with the I-16, meaning the 05.09.1942.

Can someone correct one of these dates.

thank you,
best regards,
Tomislav

Re: III./JG52 losses on 04. & 05.09.1942

The discrepany between the two dates given can be explained: When writing the manuscript I relied on the transcript of the GQM-loss reports that indicated the 5th as date of loss of Uffz. Koppe. Hence it was stated in the text to have happened the day after the loss of Uffz. Uhlmann.

The WASt.-loss return however gives September 8th as date of the loss of Uffz. Koppe. So, when we were proof reading the loss lists it became obvious that there the date was wrong and had to be corrected from 5th th 8th. Unfortunately the info did not go through to the text that remained unchanged and thus created the discrepancy that you justifiably pointed at.

Result: The correct dat was September 8th, 1943, with a possible erroneous date contained in the GQM list ( I don't have photo copies of the original at hand as at the time we copied them we were still using pen and paper ... )

Hope this helps.

Regards
