Some more about Capt Francis Henry Coleman--born on 17 August 1895, Guernsey,
Channel Islands, the son of Francis Arthur & Amelia Ann (Robin) Coleman. he was
commissioned a Temporary 2nd Lt with the 3rd Battalion, Middlesex Regiment, on
26 August 1915. Qualifying for Royal Aero Club Certificate No. 2710 on 14 January
1916, he was a Flying Officer on 14 March 1916, embarked to E.F. & to 32 Sqn (C Flight) on 28 May 1916, to Home Establishment on 20 December 1916, reembarked & to 32 Sqn 3 August 1917 as Flight Commander (FCdr as of 1 January 1917) wounded 5 August 1917. He was a career officer with the postwar RAF, serving as a Sqn Ldr (72 Sqn) in Iraq, in 1919, and awarded D.S.O. in 1928 for service in Iraq during 1927. Promoted to Sqn Ldr (1 July 1925), Wind Cdr (1 January 1933), Group Capt (1 January 1938), and Air Commodore (no date). Coleman died in 1975, at Chichester, Sussex.
