SAAF questions

Hi Folks,

Could you tell me which Wing did the following SAAF squadrons belong to in Italy in 1944-45:

-19th Beaufighter Sq.,
-44th C-47 Transp. Sq.?
-What was the letter code of lost SAAF C-47A, S/N: KG711 on February 1, 1945 in Yugoslavia?

Thanks,

Gabor

Re: SAAF questions

I can't give you the dates, but 44 SAAF Squadron is listed among the "British" units of 334 Wing operating from Brindisi from January 29th 1944 until May 1945. (I have a manuscript titled "Historical Record of 334 Wing - copy for Group Captain AB Woodhall OBE")

Re: SAAF questions

No 19 Sqdn (SAAF) was a part of 283 Wing along with No 16 (SAAF) and two Mustang squadrons, No 213 and No 249.
