I do hope that this has been updated if it is as I think a reprint of the original? At risk of being criticised, what a dreadful cover......again

Re: German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945

A pity if it is a reprint, or updated, and not indicated as being such.

If you Google, a book with the same title & author was published by Janes in 1979

Re: German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945

The original edition, Geschichte der Deutschen Nachtjagd 1917-1945, was published by Motorbuch Verlag in 1978 . The english version had 284 pages, and quite a few errors. Let's hope they have corrected them. I'm not knocking the book, for it's time, it was a real eye-opener.

I agree-I remember getting it at the Library when I was a schoolboy. However, nearly 40 years have passed since its first publication with loads more published on the subject in the intervening years so to not undertake a major update is a dangerous approach and nowhere does the blurb say it has been updated

Re: German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945

I still have copies of both the Motorbuch and Janes editions. Its dated information now but when first released it covered many new areas. There seems to be a current trend of reprinting Luftwaffe books from the 70's and 80's without revision. The Luftwaffe at War series is another example.
I trust that the new series of books by one Chris Goss due this year fall into the new material category

Re: German Night Fighter Force 1917-1945

The Osprey Fw 200 Combat units is new whilst the series of photo album books I am doing for Frontline are along the lines of Bryan Philpott's books of the late 70s using BA photos but minimal captions. Hopefully, this series (which covers He 111 (2 volumes), Ju 88 (2 volumes) Do 17, Bf 109 (to 1940) and Fw 200 will have photos which are new to many which I have obtained over the past 30 years from private sources and will include as full a captions as possible.
