1941; New Zealanders/Australiën travelling with AKARO to UK!

Dear,

my name is Everard Bakker and I am coming from the Netherlands/ Europe. I am writing about a Dutch Royal Marines who served (together with 15 other Royal Dutch Marines) in WWII as a airgunner the Dutch 320 Squadron RAF. Mr Jonker is 88 years old and living in Bronbeek the house of Dutch Veterans in Arnhem.

In Febr 1941 fifty Dutch Royal Marines left Curacao and travelled to the United Kingdom to serve the RAF. They left Curacao with the ship called THE AKAROA.

On board of this ship were also a lot of more men (other nations) who wanted also join the RAF in the UK. They came from New Zealand and Australië.

On 2th March 1941 this ship arrived in Holyhead and latter in Cardiff, where the Dutch Royal Marines left this ship.

I am looking for more information about the ship with the name THE AKAROA.
- who were the passengers? Do you know some of these passengers?
where came this ship from? Australië or New Zeland?

EVERY INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SHIP/ HIS CREW AND THE PASSENGERS IS WARM WELCOME!!!!

Do you have more information?

With kind regards,

Everard Bakker
