JG 26 Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 Wk-Nr 5911
Hi there,
Can anyone tell me the fate of this Bf 109E-4, werk nummer 5911? I know it made a forced landing 3 August 1941 after being damaged in combat but what happened to it after this incident? Any production stats would be great too. I believe my great-uncle shot this a/c down South of Marquise approx. 1920Hrs Cheers |

Re: JG 26 Messerschmitt Bf 109E-4 Wk-Nr 5911
By that time JG 26 was getting rid of its Es so no doubt if repairable (40% damaged in this case) would have gone to another unit. That evening, the RAF claimed to have destroyed 5 Bf 109s and probably destroyed one more; this was the only German casualty

Who was your uncle, and what unit was he with? I think most Emils were being transferred to the Ergaenzungsgruppen and Schulgeschwaders by this time.
