KG 30 loss

Does anyone have loss information and possible crew of Helmut Lutzow FF?

Lutzow served with I./Kampfgeschwader 30 and went missing in action on 13.3.1943 during actions against the Murmansk convoys.

Regards

Jeremy

Re: KG 30 loss

Hi,

the bomber was probably shot down by Ml.Lt. Bokij from 2 Gw.IAP around 20.25 hrs. He got in three short bursts from distance of 150-200 m and the enemy bomber went down crash-landing at frozen lake some 40 km W of Murmansk.

Regards

Robert

Re: KG 30 loss

Two Internet sources (http://www.luftwaffe.no/SIG/Losses/tap43.html and http://www.rafandluftwaffe.info/luftwaffe1.html) list this loss on 14 March 1943 and gave the reason of loss as probable Soviet AA fire.

As this was a night loss, I wonder if the loss did not occur on the night of 13-14 (in fact the evening of 13) ?

Re: KG 30 loss

Laurent,

I believe you are correct since the flyers Wehrpas clearly indicates the loss on 13 March (see link below).
