Ar 234 - emergency landing

Hi all

On 09.01.1945 an Ar 234 B of 8./KG 76 with code F1 + CS had to make an emergency landing at Grimma (SO Leipzig). Pilot was Ofw Anton Drews.
Can someone assign a WNr. to this aircraft (can it be 140325 ?) ?

thank you in advance

JoMe

Re: Ar 234 - emergency landing

Hello JoMe,

From Jan Horn, KG 76 Die Chronik des Kampfgeschwaders 76 im Zeitraum 01.01. 1944 bis 08.05. 1945, (2019), p. 196:

"...Ofw. Drews, der den Auftrag hat, die F1+CS (Werk-Nr. 140 320[sic]), nach Burg zu überführen, startet um 11:15 Uhr in Alt-Lonnewitz mit diesem Aiftrag. Aus bislang nicht bekannten Gründen muß er um 11:28 Uhr in Grimme, 22 km nördlich von Dessau-Roßlau notlanden."

In all other entries, Horn refers to F1+CS as "Werk-Nr. 140 325" so I think you are correct.

Jim

Smith & Creek give W.Nr. 140325 as F1+CS of 8./KG 76, too.

Hi

Thank you for your answers.
Grimme is right, the destination was probably airfield Burg (b Magdeburg).

best wishes

This picture is reproduced in Horn's book on p. 112. It is captioned:

"Maschinen der 8. Staffel in Burg. Ganz rechts die 140 360. Linksdaneben die F1+CS (Werk-Nr. 140 325) und neben ihr die F1+MS."
