Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
Perhaps not exactly the correct forum, but it is difficult to fit in anywhere else
Some interesting photos of the Ju 86 Z (B) M-213 which crashed in the Hong Kong are 5 Sep 1940 https://www.ebay.com/itm/16597978521...SXRYAH63FCH3AK https://www.ebay.com/itm/16597978244...DHQ73GVA8W3S27 There are a couple of more if you check around a bit New to me at least! Cheers Stig |

Re: Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
The Arawasi book ? If so I rate it very highly, as with anything by George Eleftheriou.
What I will say about the site I linked to,is that information is expanded as it emerges. Some time back on here I asked a question about the Aichi E3A1. At that time the site didn't have the information I wanted (or indeed the book). Now it does. Regards, Clint |

Re: Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
Yep that's the book Clint
So will keep my eyes open on that site then. It seems Google translate the Chinese pretty well, except when they say something about the I-16 fighter jets.... Cheers Stig Last edited by Stig Jarlevik; 12th February 2024 at 18:53. Reason: Changed Japanese to Chinese |

Re: Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
Thanks Stig for the very interesting eBay link. M-213 is most likely the Ju 86 Z, W-Nr. 0483 with factory flights in Dessau in July 1938 and 60 flying hours in 1938 with Manchu Koku K.K.
Junkers delivered 14 aircraft to Manchuria. 17 aircraft were ordered, but three could not be delivered due to the outbreak of war. Junkers stored the three aircraft until 1941, when they were completed. Two went to Lufthansa: W-Nr. 0502/D-ABNP and 0504/D-ADJO and one to the Luftwaffe: 0503/D-ACLR/CC+IA. |

Re: Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
Thanks Peter
None of the MKKK Ju 86s has been identified before, as far as I know, so your WNr is interesting. I had the two Lufthansa aircraft though. It is interesting you mention 14 as delivered, since only 13 has been identified with certainty (M-211 to M-223) Seems we should accept M-224 after all then. You don't happen to have all their WNr do you? Cheers Stig |

Re: Junkers 86Z (B) in Manchukuo
Someone is trying to make people pay for this series of photos that is available for high-resolution downloand for free from UWM Libraries! Regarding the Ju 86 there is unfortunately an enormous amount of "invented" and erroneous information floating around about this type in publications and on the internet. As a rule: Never treat anything not taken from an original document for fact until it is really confirmed when this type is concerned.
A (probably very good) book on the Ju 86 has been under work for many years, but unfortunately there is still no indication of a publication date. I would very much like to see all myths around the Ju 86 done away with. |
