A ? RE: Anton Hackl;

Guys:

Anton Hackl is one of my favorite LW personalities--particularly his ability to survive & succeed on ALL the War fronts the Jagdwaffe served in...

Anyways, I have a question that I hope is not TOO silly to ask but, I was wondering: Why didn't he get transferred to Jets? He spent his entire career flying prop aircraft while others high scoring Experten like Baer, Steinhoff, Galland et al...found themselves flying the Me262...

TIA

One thesis might be that anyone famous who wound up in JV 44 was either exhausted (plucked from a rest home) or in disgrace/political disfavour.

Re: A ? RE: Anton Hackl;

..agreed....absolutely no point in looking for sense, reason or 'professional logic' in anything 'Luftwaffe' by this stage....another might be that JG 300 was to be the next JG to go over to jets...
