Best Source on Anton 'Toni' Hackl

I've always enjoyed reading about Anton 'Toni' Hackl. What is the best source(s) of information on the wartime career of this Expert?

Would the members of the forum please make (English-language) suggestions?

Well, you could try to get the books by Jochen Prien on JG1/JG-11 for his time with JG-11. I think they were translated into English?
Also the JG-26 war Diary 1943-1944 by Caldwell, for his service with JG-26.

He started out w/II/JG-77 from 1938-1943 and to gets detail of his early service, the only source is J. Prien's JG-77 set, which is only in German.

Unfortunately, without an ability to read or at least decipher German, there is realtively little on Anton Hackl in English.
There is an interview with him in "Target Berlin:March 6,1944" by Ethell. He talks about tactics and the German fighters, the Bf109G and the FW190A.

There is a 'thumbnail' bio of Hackl on Petr Kacha's Luftwaffe Experten website:

http://www.luftwaffe.cz/hackl.html

I'm not sure if that will help you or not.

Best Source on Anton 'Toni' Hackl

I'm interested in the personality and demeanor, the deportment, of the Experten: Toni Hackl, Heinz Bar, Pips Priller, Walter Oesau, Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke, to name just a few. These were interesting men, doing interesting things, during an interesting time. I just wish I could read more about them.

I have a pretty good sense for both Gunther Rall and Adolf Galland because of the numerous video interviews they both gave, but that's about it.

Where any film interviews made of these men (the Experten) in the 50's, 60's and 70's? Heinz Bar would be fascinating to listen to. Gerhard Barkhorn lived until 1983, are there any interviews of him?

Jim P. will become famous soon enough
Re: Best Source on Anton 'Toni' Hackl

I've heard rumors that there is a bio of Barkhorn in the works.

A minor factoid from Caldwell's JG26 War Diary RE: Hackl; he commented that when in command of II/JG26 he was an easy going leader...he enforced military discipline only as far as was needed; performance in combat was all that mattered to him
