Fw 190 A-5/U12

Is Erich Hondt's black 13 the only documented A-5/U12?
On one of the modelling forums I saw images of yellow 12 flown by Hans Pancritius of 3./J.G. 11 - is this only a speculation?

regards,
Pawel

Pawel,

I have a dozen or more listed for JGs 1, 11 & 2, including that the yellow 12 for Pancritius.

Re: Fw 190 A-5/U12

I have only seen Fw 190 A-5/U2's by JG 11, have anyone seen any photos from JG 1 or JG 2?

Re: Fw 190 A-5/U12

Hello Jim,

Thank you for posting your most interesting Fw190A-5/U12 listing. In the name of accuracy and not to be nit picking, after checking my database file and other reference material, I believe this one this one: (FW 190A-5/U12, 160416, Strassemeier, Uffz. Herbert…) is actually an Fw190G-3.

Thank you again for all of your hard work.

Steve Sheflin

Re: Fw 190 A-5/U12

Steve, based on the WNr. I would generally agree with you, but that is the way it was reported by the referenced source. Let's wait and see how it is reported when the 'Jagdfliegerverbande' series by the same author(s) get around to it again for same unit and time period.

Re: Fw 190A-5/U12

To echo Jim's reply, "maybe." It 'looks' like a G-3, but the Werknummern of these are not sequential, they're conversions.

BTW, the last entry, for CLAUSEN's WNr.7358, should have included p.417 in _JG 1 und 11_ (photo of it in the background, from 8 o’clock angle). We weren't always meticulous about including photo reference pages, being concerned then with a (likely-never-to-be-achieved) 'completion' of Werknummer ranges... As the other member of the NELM claims, "We're gonna get 'em all." He, of course, says this without having typed an entry, but we strive.

Re: Fw 190 A-5/U12

Hi,

Just a small addition: FW 190 A-5/U12 WNr. 7366 was allotted to I./J.G. 11 on 1 July 1943, and was to be flown to Husum. (Source: ULTRA)

Cheers,
Andrew A.
