Personnel file of Ofw. Hans Liebherr, BF to Herget?

Dear all,

I would like to know if there is a Personalakte (Personnel File) available of Ofw. Hans Liebherr, who served as Bordfunker to Wilhelm Herget and participated in 68 victories. Liebherr was awarded the Ritterkreuz.

Cheers and thanks for any pointers, Theo

Not sure what you mean Rene....when Bundesarchiv ZNS Aachen (Kornelimünster) closed the following happened;

1) Personalakten for Officers went to Freiburg. Now easily to search for and accessible.

2) Personalakten for lower ranks went to Deutsche Dienststelle Berlin (now Bundesarchiv PA) but are currently not searchable nor easily accessible.

Regards,
John

John,

what I wanted to say. In BArch Freiburg you only have access to the PA of Officers.

All others are not intended for the public.

Best regards,
René

Thanks gentlemen for your further info on this matter. Does anobody known if there are plans to digitise/make the Luftwaffe lower ranks personnel files now at BAPA available for the public?

Cheers, Theo

Don't hold your breath...this might take a while (many years) is my best guess.

OK thanks John.. I hope to live to be 100 years so have 40 years to go then. Just joking; it would be great to see these files becoming available to the public domain.

Cheers, Theo

Theo,

Not sure when they start at this. The problem is also the many different sizes of paper a Personalakte contains. It would already be fantastic if they would catalogue it so we would know what is there.....

Anyway, they will need to digitise their Zentralkartei also.....I am told there are more than 30 million cards.....
